Discover Durable, Natural-Looking Dental Crowns at CarolinasDentist
Dental crowns are the perfect fit to strengthen an injured tooth. Dental professionals agree that, when possible, it is best to restore a natural tooth rather than replace it with a prosthetic alternative. At CarolinasDentist, our tooth crowns are precision-engineered to create a beautiful fit and restore full functionality to the injured tooth. Dental crowns cover the “crown” of the tooth, acting as a cap, and that’s how they get their name. Crowns are used to help restore decayed, worn down, cracked or broken teeth. The beauty of a crown is the natural look and fit, giving you that perfect smile.

Same-Day Dental Crowns
We’re excited to offer same-day tooth crowns at CarolinasDentist using CEREC®, which cuts a multiple-visit procedure down to just one visit. Using state-of-the-art digital impressions, we will design your custom crown to fit like a king or queen. Modern technology has given us the tools to make same-day impressions and adjustments while you wait, thus eliminating the need for lab out-sourcing. At CarolinasDentist, we know your time is valuable, and we are here for you same day and every day!
Can dental crowns be used for restorative or cosmetic purposes?
Dental crowns are frequently used for both restorative and cosmetic reasons. If one or more of your teeth have incurred a significant amount of damage due to tooth decay or dental trauma, a custom dental crown can be used to support the tooth and protect it from further damage. Teeth that are misshapen, discolored, or simply don’t fit in with the surrounding teeth cosmetically can also be covered by a dental crown, instantly enhancing the appearance of the patient’s tooth and their overall smile.
How long do dental crowns last?
Dental crowns can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years. To keep your dental crowns in great shape, we recommend visiting our office regularly for routine cleanings and exams and establishing a thorough at-home oral care routine. We also recommend that you avoid chewing on things like ice, hard candy, and popcorn kernels, as this can damage natural teeth as well as dental restorations like crowns. Our team will advise you on when we believe you should get a new crown, and we can repair minor damage to dental crowns as well.
How can dental crowns be made in a single day?
CEREC dental crowns are designed and created using digital dental impressions and CAD/CAM software in a single morning or afternoon. Once the tooth is prepped to have a crown placed over it, we will run a handheld device over the top and sides of the tooth that will take thousands of pictures. These images are used to create a digital 3-D model of the tooth, and the custom crown is then designed based on these impressions. Then, our 3D printer can create the crown in less than an hour, and our team will secure it over your tooth and make any final modifications necessary.
