3 Holiday Gifts for Your Teeth
The time is approaching for stuffing stockings and placing festively wrapped boxes under the tree. Whether you’re in a rush or just stumped on what to give the person that has everything, check out this list of three holiday gifts that will benefit your recipient’s teeth!
- Electric Toothbrush
- Dental Emergency Supplies
- Water Flosser
If you have strolled down the oral healthcare aisle in a store, you have likely seen an array of electric toothbrushes. An electric toothbrush is a great gift for nearly any age because it will make cleaning their teeth easier and more enjoyable than with a traditional manual toothbrush. Keep in mind that the brushhead should be replaced every 3 months, or sooner if the bristles look frayed, so it could be helpful to include a pack of replacement brushheads.
Many electric toothbrushes have fancy features like app connectivity, changeable brushheads, and to-go cases. Our favorite features found on most basic brushes are a built-in timer, charger, and soft bristles. Although other bells and whistles can be nice to have, they aren’t necessary if you are shopping on a budget.
You could put materials together in a small bag that would be helpful during a dental emergency. This can be particularly handy for a parent with young children or someone who works in a high-risk environment. Items like gauze, floss, a tooth preservation kit, orthodontic wax, and an over-the-counter pain reliever could hold them over until they can visit our office.
A water flosser could boost your loved one’s oral hygiene routine, especially if they have braces and/or find it difficult to use string floss. Water flossers use pressurized water to stimulate bloodflow in the gums and remove plaque and food particles. This can reduce the risk of gum disease and tooth decay. The reservoir can also be filled with a combination of water and mouthwash to help fight bad breath.
